Steampunk Art: The Hamptons Get Punked

Steampunk Art: The Hamptons Get Punked

Our obsession with steampunk (the art-music-fashion movement that melds elements of Deco and neo-Edwardian design with the super high-tech – think Rugby fave The James Gang) has reached new heights with the world's first steampunk exhibition. Down the highway from the East Hampton store in Bridgehampton, the Hamptons Antique Galleries has a trove of the elaborate, beguiling designs on display that fulfills even our most outrageous steampunk fantasies (and that's saying something). Our favorites include an Art Donovan–designed table lamp inspired by Captain Nemo's undersea study; Datamancer's latest PC, featuring a brass keyboard and stained-glass screen enclosure; and a stunning clock created out of what looks like a repurposed weather vein. The exhibition is open through this weekend.

The computer cabinet looks like it should be used in a Mortal Kombat movie. Reply
