A trim black suit is as everyday perfect in the warmer months as it is the rest of the year.
Just ask interior designer Leilani Arita, whose weekday errand running can take her from a client meeting at New York’s historic Puck building to the lumber yard or flower market. She counts on her Abici bike and a sleek, go-everywhere suit to get her around town.
On Duty: For client meetings and high-end shopping trips, like a stop into revered antiques shop Paula Rubenstein, Leilani pairs the black suit with a beautifully delicate lace top, a tangle of vintage chains and a classic black heel. A high ballerina bun and a bright red lip personify Leilani’s bold yet minimalistic design sense and keep her looking professional, yet cool.
Off Duty: To Leilani, there’s no better way to start the day than with a trip to New York City’s flower district. For trips like these (usually made on her bike), Leilani dresses the suit down with a cozy cropped sweatshirt, a waterproof parka and a rugged lace-up boot. A loose side braid and a statement necklace pull the look together, creating an ensemble worthy of New York’s unofficial catwalk — the bike lane.
