From vintage ID bracelets and beads to old-school grosgrain watches and recycled woven strings, our men’s editor is recommending a more-is-more approach to summer wrist-wear.
That said, not all man jewelry is right for all men. So we reached out to our favorite menswear bloggers for a three person poll: Gents, how do you accessorize? See what they had to say below.
Dan Trepanier, The Style Blogger
“If you're new to wearing jewelry, start slow and build on it. A classic timepiece is essential and worth spending a little on, since the right watch (medium size, 35mm-38mm, neutral face color, simple design) can be worn daily and can increase in value over time. When it comes to bracelets, keep them rugged and manly: think broken-in leathers, wooden beads and oxidized metals. Above all, comfort and confidence is most important.”
Cory Ohlendorf, Valet
“My advice is to simply start finding pieces that mean something to you. I personally dig bracelets, stacked on my left wrist around my watch. I recently picked up a Navajo style one on a road trip through New Mexico. And a few others have been gifts from friends or souvenirs from past travels. But if a nautical rope bracelet reminds you of childhood summers, or you simply see a piece in a store that speaks to you, just throw it on. It's a simple way to add some laid-back style to whatever you're wearing.”
Chris Callis, Men of Habit
“When it comes to bracelets, necklaces and rings, it's up to you. Many of the most stylish guys around wear all three, so I encourage you to give them a try. The easiest (and most timeless) place to start is with a sterling silver ID bracelet or a simple leather bracelet. If you feel comfortable with that, feel free to explore other options — just remember to wear things that feel right on you.”
