Cinemagraph by Jamie Beck
Ask photographer Jamie Beck and she'll tell you: The invention of her signature cinemagraph -- what she describes as a photograph that has a living moment in it -- was quite literally just a matter of time.
“With digital technology, everything got faster and faster and faster and very instant,” she told us. “We created this art form that is sort of like the beginning of photography, where it takes hours, if not days, to make an image. It’s kind of nice to go back to that mindset that there’s value in one image because it takes so long.”
Well put, Jamie. We love Instagram as much as anyone, but there’s something to be said for a photo that’s meant to last longer than a status update.
