1. Fill in the blank: style is ____.
Knowing the rules, so you can know how to break them.
2. Where do you find inspiration for the daily posts you create on A Continuous Lean?
Everywhere. Though, most of what truly inspires me was born a long time ago. I love the idea that things can stand the test of time and be as relevant today as they were fifty or a hundred years ago.
3. What would you consider the top 3 most stylish cities in the world?
Milan — I love the classic and masculine Milanese style. Navy always makes me think of Milan.
London — The city embodies everything from very proper gentlemanly style to a very effortless cool look out East.
Hartford, Connecticut — just kidding. How could I not list New York? No city has the style diversity that New York does.
4. Five things every man must own:
-A suit
-A passport
-A collection of something (I love collecting)
-A nice watch
-Books
5. Skinny ties or bow ties?
Depends on how skinny you mean by skinny. Bow ties are tough in my opinion, though I do have photos of me wearing them, strangely. So I guess I vote for skinny if you mean between 2.5 and 2.75 inches wide.
6. Who are your must-follows on Twitter?
@gearpatrol @hodinkee @randygoldberg @aaronplevine @valetmag
7. If you could swap closets with any fictional character or style icon, who would it be?
I don't know, impossible for me to say. I will mention a few movies that I love and are inspiring from a style perspective: Metropolitan, Paris Texas, Chinatown, North by Northwest, Man in the Gray Flannel Suit, The French Connection, Wall Street, Royal Tenenbaums, Sweet Smell of Success, The Apartment, Get Carter (1971)...
8. Tell us how you put together today's outfit:
I picked my entire look out based on the colors and the materials. There was a big navy group in the new Rugby collection and I picked a chamois shirt in blue, blue cotton pants, a chambray shirt and a blue scarf. Together it looks cool (I think) with the different hues of blue all mixed and layered together.
