The Rugby Guide

1. Lana del Rey, "Born to Die:"

Since Adele's surgery and Amy Winehouse's passing, Del Rey seems to be slipping into their absences nicely and taking the spotlight. And having already played her early released songs, "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans," more times than we'd like to admit, we're curious to see how the rest of her album will fare in comparison. Check out "Born to Die" when it releases January 30, on iTunes.com.

2. Ellsworth Kelly: Prints and Paintings

At 88 years old, Ellsworth Kelly is one of America's most renowned artists of abstraction, having used color and shape, grids and contrast in ways that were new to the American eye. And since Kelly's work hasn't been given a retrospective examination since 1988, there's no better time than now for LACMA to swoop in and take the lead. With over 100 pieces to peruse, this one's a great rainy day activity to get your culture on. Visit Lacma.org for more info.

3. American Beauty:

A coffee table book collection should be ever-evolving, and we've found the latest tome destined to sit proudly amongst the rest: American Beauty. The 200 plus page book from Assouline features over 100 portraits of strong women who exhibit our current American spirit – think Joan Smalls, Lisa Mayock, and Alina Cho to name a few – all photographed by Vogue alumna Claiborne Swanson Frank. Purchase at Assouline.com

4. The Haberdasher

We wouldn't say that MPD is our go-to Manhattan neighborhood, but it may be getting a lot more face time now that the Haberdasher has opened up shop. Selling itself as a "speakeasy meets cabaret," the attic-located lounge outfitted in retro velvet sofas and exposed brick will be entertaining guests with bi-weekly burlesque shows and film screenings featuring classics from the likes of Fellini and Charlie Chaplin. Another reason to give it a try? The bartenders here specialize in one-off cocktails crafted just for you. Visit yelp.com for reviews.

6. Winter X Games

If you've ever been on a weekend ski trip and reveled at those crazy kids landing jumps and aerials left and right, take note. Because those were probably just the amateurs. Enter the big leagues (aka the Winter X Games), where the best athletes from around the globe compete in every dangerous winter sport you can imagine. If you can't head to Aspen this year, just turn on ESPN to take in all the adrenaline from home. Visit ESPN.com for schedule and times.
