Rugby Style Panel: Jace Lipstein, Grungy Gentleman

Rugby Style Panel: Jace Lipstein, Grungy Gentleman

1. Describe your style in 5 words.

Sort of terribly put together.

2. Whose closet would you most like to raid?

This would be fun. How could you not want to raid Tom Ford's? If we were talking domestic closets, Nick Wooster, Josh Peskowitz, and Eugene Tong come to mind. All three of their styles are a bit different, so I would come away with a bunch of amazing pieces. If I wanted that European flava, I would pick Milan Vukmirovic, Lapo Elkann, and Brunello Cucinelli. My buddy Austin Wong has some fantastic threads as well. Come to think of it, that Ralph Lauren guy wouldn't be too shabby either.

3. What is a "grungy gentleman?"

Grungy Gentleman erases the stereotype that all gentlemen have to be frumpy and grandpa-like. Grungy Gentleman injects a bit of youth and flair into your step; while still remaining sartorial.

4. What are your favorite street style blogs?

Jak & Jil and StreetFSN are the staples. I also dig surfing through Justin Chung's photography blog--guy is a talent. Guerrisms and Mister Mort do fabulous work too.

The most underrated sites are:

5. Where do you go to find inspiration?

From my friends.

6. Do you have any quick tips or tricks men can use to instantly upgrade their style?

Be yourself. Trust me. It's better. But as a person be willing to learn. Do all that and you will be fine.

7. What kind of coat do you gravitate towards in winter?

How can I stick to just one? Leather, quilted, safari, suede, trench, etc. My closet is equal opportunity haha. I tend to gravitate towards a strong collar and elbow pads.

8. Bowtie or tie?

Tie.

9. Can you give us a sentence or two on why you like each piece that you picked out and why you styled them as such?

I just like cool threads. That's what it comes down to. A navy blazer with gold buttons is the quintessential, classic piece for a man. Never can have enough navy in your wardrobe. When you think of Rugby, you think of...a rugby. So, going with a navy/gold striped rugby was the obvious choice. Mint green is a color I have always been a fan of, hence the chinos. DO NOT be an idiot and forget a crisp, white, cotton pocket square like I did on this photoshoot.
