Kaycee from our San Francisco store enjoys a Gentleman Prefer Reds mini cupcake at That Takes the Cake

An amazing staff and a prime location straddling the Cow Hollow and Marina neighborhoods make every day an unofficial party in our San Francisco store. But when our SF store associates want to make the party official, they head a block down Union Street to That Takes the Cake, our vote for the best cupcakery in all of SF.

We love this awesome little bakery for going beyond plain vanilla with flavors like “Elvis Is in the Building” (a banana cake filled with caramel and topped with peanut butter frosting… obviously). But our favorite part? On Saturday nights, things take an adult spin with a menu of cocktail cupcakes (!) where the cake, frosting or both are liquored up with a range of happy hour flavors. Our vote goes to the Pina Colada, a rum-soaked coconut pineapple cake topped with pineapple rum frosting. Now that’s a party.
