RUGBY MUSIC: Peter Gabriel Scratch My Back
Music
If your most vivid Peter Gabriel association is “In Your Eyes,” take a look at the track listing on his new cover album, Scratch My Back, which reads like the playlist in a Brooklyn bar. Bon Iver, The Magnetic Fields and Radiohead crowd up against Talking Heads, David Bowie and Neil Young. A bit gimmicky, maybe, but the album is actually great, with cool, orchestral versions of singles you know and love (our favorite is the stunning cover of Bon Iver's "Flume"). A sequel is also in the works, which will be — haven’t you guessed already? — covers of Peter Gabriel songs by the very artists whose songs appear on Scratch My Back. Bring on the Arcade Fire remake of “Sledgehammer.”
