RUGBY DALLAS EVENT: SeaOfShoes Blogger Jane Aldridge In Store Tonight
Miscellany
Jane Aldridge, the fashion prodigy behind the phenomenal SeaOfShoes.com and Teen Vogue’s “It” girl du jour, totters out from behind her laptop on those famous four-inch heels tonight for a meet-and-greet appearance in our Dallas store. Stop by to say hello to Jane: she's bringing her camera, so who knows – you might even end up on the SeaOfShoes blog. And for those of you too far away to make it to the store, take a peek after the jump for a special guest blog post by the lovely Ms. Aldridge herself. She writes about picking her outfit for tonight’s event (isn’t it nice to know that even the superiorly gifted sartorialists among us go through a few costumes changes before getting it perfect?).

DAY & NIGHT: The Berkeley Band Collar Shirt
Style
As the saying goes, it takes a real man to rock a collarless buttondown. And in that spirit one of our favorite menswear pieces this spring is the Berkeley Band Collar Shirt. The contrasting shorty collar is sharp and dressy without being the least bit country club. We asked Channing in our Greenwich store to give us his take on wearing the shirt from after breakfast to after dark. Check out his looks after the jump.

OLD SCHOOL/NEW SCHOOL: Poladroid
Miscellany
Old School: You shake it, shake it like a, well, you know what kind of picture. Nothing beat the instant gratification of the original Polaroid (R.I.P.). That is, of course, if you were able to develop the picture without making it streak, run or smear. Not to mention there was no recourse from an ill-timed blink.
New School: Poladroid, a favorite Mac app available for non-Macs just this month, turns your best digital shots into retro Polaroid lookalikes, complete with Polaroid borders and a realistic bit of fading around the edges. Download the application (for free) and turn any picture into a vintage-chic shot, allowing yourself to be amused by the fake processing sound effects while you wait for your film to “develop.” You pick the shots to process, so there won't be any nasty, unflattering surprises when all is said and done. Think of it as perfect photo synthesis.

MARDI GRAS STYLE: To the Masquerade

If there was ever a time to test a new dress code (or lack thereof), it's Fat Tuesday. Hat tip to Malcolm, the manager in our Georgetown store, for pointing out the authentic Venetian masks at Georgetown Tobacco on M St., just around the corner from D.C. Rugby.

Let’s just get it out on the table: Women in ties rock. Why let the guys hog the ultimate accessory? We happily invite the fairer sex to follow in the fashionable steps of Marlene Dietrich, Katherine Hepburn and Diane Keaton — three of our favorite style icons.
